Mailbox problems
Fix a mailbox that will not connect, stopped updating, or cannot send.
Find the message or symptom you see, then follow its fix.
A mailbox has a red dot, or "needs to be reconnected"
Mira lost access to the mailbox, usually because its password changed or its access was removed at the provider.
Open the mailbox's settings
Open the mailbox switcher and select Mailbox settings.
Connect it again
For Gmail or Outlook, select Reconnect Google or Reconnect Microsoft and sign in. For other mailboxes, enter the new password and select Save changes.
A mailbox has an orange dot, or "hasn't updated since"
The mailbox is still connected, but Mira could not get its new mail for at least 10 minutes. Mira keeps trying, and the message goes away by itself once the mailbox updates again.
- Select Try again in the message above your conversations.
- If the message stays for more than an hour, check that you can open the mailbox at your provider, such as gmail.com or outlook.com.
- If it still stays, contact Mira and name the mailbox and the time in the message.
"Mira could not connect to the incoming server" or "outgoing server"
The address, password or server settings are not accepted.
- Check the email address and password.
- iCloud, Yahoo and many other providers need an app password instead of your normal one. See Connect another mailbox.
- If Mira found the wrong servers, select Manual setup and enter the servers your provider lists for email apps.
"A work account's administrator may have to approve Mira first"
Your organization controls which apps can read its mail. Ask your IT administrator to approve Mira for your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account, then connect again.
"The required Gmail permission was not granted"
Google's window lets you untick the Gmail access Mira asks for. Connect again, and leave the Gmail access ticked.
"You've already added this mailbox"
Each email address can be in your Mira once, even when it is connected another way, such as with Other email instead of Google. Open it from the mailbox switcher.
To sign in to it again, open its mailbox settings: Reconnect Google or Reconnect Microsoft, or a new password for Other email. To change how it connects, remove the mailbox first, then add it again.
New mail is missing
If a conversation you expect is missing, check Spam, then search for it with in:anywhere. See Search your mail. If the mailbox shows "hasn't updated since", see the orange dot above.
