Sort your inbox with Smart inbox
Smart inbox shows what needs you and sorts your inbox into Orders, Invoices, Travel, Updates, and Promotions, on Pro.
Smart inbox shows what needs you and sorts the rest of your inbox into views, so you can find an order, a bill, or a booking without searching. It is part of the Pro plan.
The views
Inbox still shows all your mail. Overview sits above it in the sidebar and Needs you below it, and the other views are above your inbox list: select one to see only that mail, and select All to see everything again. Updates and Promotions are under More.
| View | What goes there |
|---|---|
| Needs you | Conversations where someone asked you for something you have not done yet. |
| Orders | Order confirmations, shipping, and deliveries. |
| Invoices | Invoices, bills, payment receipts, and bank statements. |
| Travel | Flights, trains, hotels, bookings, and tickets. |
| Updates | Notifications, account and security messages, and mailing lists. |
| Promotions | Newsletters, offers, and other marketing. |
Mail from people stays only in Inbox, and so does every conversation you have replied in.
The number next to Needs you is everything in it. The number next to Orders, Invoices, or Travel shows the new conversations since you last opened it. Updates and Promotions show no number.
Views show the recent mail Mira has loaded. To find older mail, use search.
Needs you
A conversation is in Needs you when the newest message is from someone else, sent to you directly, in the last 14 days, and asks you a question or asks you to do something. Thanks, updates, and offers never count.
Open the conversation to see the sentence that asks you, above the messages. When you have handled it, select Done. It comes back only if someone writes again. Replying takes it out too.
Move a sender to another view
Open a conversation from the sender
Open it in your inbox.
Select Categorize sender
Select the tag icon above the conversation, or Categorize sender… in its ⋯ menu.
Choose where their mail goes
Choose a view, or Inbox only. Every conversation from the sender moves, and new ones follow.
Mira always keeps your choice. Mail that comes through a mailing list is sorted by the list, and a conversation you have replied in stays in Inbox, so neither has Categorize sender….
Overview
Overview, at the top of the sidebar, is your day on one page: what needs you, the updates worth knowing, trips and bills in the coming week, and what came in today. It shows the mailbox you selected, or every mailbox in All inboxes. Select any row to open its conversation.
Worth knowing shows up to 5 automatic emails from the last 2 days that report a change to your own account, security, money, or delivery, with the words that say so. For example, a domain that was verified, a new sign-in, a payment that failed, or a parcel that could not be delivered. Newsletters, receipts, login codes, and normal shipping updates never count. The emails it shows are no longer in the number of updates you can skip.
Daily summary
Once a morning, Mira can send you what Overview shows: what needs you, the new orders, invoices, and trips, a flight or bill that is coming up, and how much you can skip. Turn it on in Settings > Notifications > Daily summary, then choose the time and whether it comes by email or as a notification on your devices. It opens Overview. On a day with nothing to tell, Mira sends nothing.
The email names who needs you and the subject, never the text of their message.
How Mira sorts your mail
Mira first reads what a message says about itself: the headers that newsletters, mailing lists, and automatic mail carry, and the sorting Gmail and Outlook already did.
Orders, invoices, and travel cannot be told apart that way, so the first time a new sender writes to you, Mira's AI looks at the sender's name and address and the subjects of their latest emails, never the messages themselves, and remembers the answer for that sender. For Needs you, it reads the newest few messages of recent conversations from people. For the daily summary, it reads the subject and preview of new travel and invoice emails to find their dates. For Worth knowing, it reads the subject and preview of new automatic emails in Updates, Orders, and Invoices. None of this uses your AI credits.
When Mira cannot tell, the conversation stays only in Inbox, so mail from a person is never hidden in a view. That includes people who write about payments or trips, such as an accountant or a travel agent.
Smart inbox only changes what Mira shows. Nothing moves at your email provider.
