Connect Gmail

Add a Gmail address or a Google Workspace account to Mira.

Connect Gmail or Google Workspace by signing in with Google. Mira then reads and organizes your Gmail through Google's own access, and what you do in Mira, like starring or archiving, shows in Gmail too.

Before you start

  • A Mira account. See Quick start.
  • If your organization manages your Google account, your administrator may have to allow Mira first.

Connect with Google

Open the mailboxes

In Mira, open Settings, then All mailboxes, and select Connect mailbox.

Choose Google

Select Google. Google opens and asks which account to use.

Allow access

Choose the account and allow the Gmail access Mira asks for. Mira needs it to show your mail and to carry out what you do, like sending, archiving and starring.

Mira then loads your inbox. To connect another Gmail address, repeat the steps and choose the other account in Google's window.

Connect with an app password

If Mira shows Email account where you would expect Google, connecting through Google is not available yet. You can still add Gmail with an app password, which Google makes for apps like Mira:

Turn on 2-Step Verification

Google only offers app passwords when 2-Step Verification is on for your Google account.

Create an app password

Go to myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, name it "Mira", and copy the 16-character password Google shows.

Add the mailbox in Mira

In Settings, All mailboxes, select Connect mailbox, then Email account. Enter your Gmail address, paste the app password, and select Connect mailbox. Mira finds Gmail's servers by itself.

Check that it worked

The mailbox appears in the mailbox switcher at the top of the sidebar, and its inbox shows your latest mail.
