# Remove a mailbox

Remove a mailbox from Mira without deleting any of its mail.

Removing a mailbox takes it out of Mira. Your messages stay with your email provider, and you can connect the mailbox again later.

## Steps

### Open the mailbox's settings

Open the mailbox switcher and select **Mailbox settings**, or open **Settings** and select the mailbox under **Mailboxes**.

### Delete the mailbox

Under **Remove mailbox**, select **Delete mailbox**, then confirm.

## What Mira deletes

Mira deletes everything it stored for the mailbox: its sign-in details, its sync state, the conversation list it kept for speed, and the Ask Mira chats that used it. Nothing changes at your email provider.

For a Gmail or Outlook mailbox, you can also remove Mira's access in your [Google Account permissions](https://myaccount.google.com/permissions) or in your Microsoft account's app permissions.
