# Connect Outlook

Add an Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live address, or a Microsoft 365 account, to Mira.

Connect an Outlook, Hotmail, Live or Microsoft 365 mailbox by signing in with Microsoft. Mira then reads and organizes the mail through Microsoft's own access.

## Before you start

- A Mira account. See [Quick start](https://mirahq-stg.app/docs/getting-started/quick-start).
- For a work or school account, your organization's administrator may have to approve Mira first.

## Steps

### Open the mailboxes

In Mira, open **Settings**, then **All mailboxes**, and select **Connect mailbox**.

### Choose Microsoft

Select **Microsoft**. Microsoft's sign-in opens.

### Allow access

Sign in and accept the permissions Mira asks for. Mira needs to read your mail and send email for you, so it can show your mailbox and carry out what you do in it.

> **Note:** Microsoft no longer lets apps sign in to Outlook.com with a password over IMAP, so always use **Microsoft** for these mailboxes.

## Check that it worked

The mailbox appears in the mailbox switcher at the top of the sidebar, and its inbox shows your latest mail. If Mira says a work account's administrator has to approve it, see [Mailbox problems](https://mirahq-stg.app/docs/troubleshooting/mailbox-problems).
