# Use snippets

Save templates and messages you write again and again, and add them to any email in a few keystrokes.

Snippets are templates and messages you write to people again and again, such as a follow-up after a meeting, a reply to a request you get every week, or a welcome email for new clients. Save each one once, then add it to any email, from any of your mailboxes.

## Make a snippet

### Open Snippets

Open **Settings**, then **Snippets**, and select **New snippet**.

### Name it and write it

Give it a **Name** you will recognize, write the **Text**, and select **Save snippet**.

You can also save text while you write. Select the text you want, or select nothing to use the whole message, then select **Snippets** at the bottom of the composer and choose **Save as snippet**.

## Add a snippet to an email

While you write, type <kbd>/</kbd> at the start of a word. A list headed **Snippets** opens where you are typing. Keep typing to find one by its name or text and press <kbd>Enter</kbd> to add it, or choose one with <kbd>↑</kbd> and <kbd>↓</kbd> first. <kbd>Enter</kbd> right after the <kbd>/</kbd> starts a new line as usual, and <kbd>Esc</kbd> closes the list and keeps the <kbd>/</kbd>. The list opens only once you have saved a snippet.

You can also select **Snippets** at the bottom of the composer and choose one from the list. The snippets you used most recently come first.

## Leave parts to fill in

Put the parts that change in double curly braces, like `{{name}}` or `{{date}}`. Mira highlights them in your message, and if one is still there when you select **Send**, Mira asks before sending.

## Write with Mira from a snippet

In **Ask Mira**, ask for an email and name the snippet, like "Email Nikos with my meeting follow-up snippet". Mira starts the draft from it: it keeps your wording and fills in the placeholders it knows from the chat or the conversation, like `{{name}}`. The rest stay highlighted for you.

When one of your snippets fits what you ask, Mira asks first. Choose the snippet, or **Write it fresh** to go on without one. Say "use a snippet" to choose from all of them. In the composer, name the snippet when you describe the email to **Write with Mira**.

Mira decides which snippets fit without its AI provider. A snippet's text goes to the AI provider only when Mira writes from it.

## Edit or delete a snippet

In **Settings** > **Snippets**, open the **⋯** menu next to a snippet and select **Edit snippet** or **Delete snippet**. Emails you already wrote with it do not change.

> **Note:** Snippets are on every plan, up to 100 of them. Mira stores them encrypted.
