# Translate an email

Read a message in another language in English, in place.

Mira can translate a message into English. It replaces the words in the message and keeps its layout, links and images, so it reads like the original.

## Steps

### Open the conversation

Select it in your inbox or any other folder.

### Translate the message

Select **More message actions** on the message, then **Translate to English**.

While Mira translates, the message shows **Translating…**. Then it shows **Translated to English by Mira.** above the message.

Select **Show original** to see the message as it was sent. Select **Translate to English** again to go back to the translation.

## What Mira translates

Mira translates the text of the message. Text inside images, such as a logo or a banner, stays as it is. Translation is best effort: if Mira cannot translate part of a message, that part stays in its own language.

## What it uses

Mira sends only the text of this message to its AI provider, and only when you select **Translate to English**. Translating uses no AI credits, on every plan. You can translate up to 100 messages a day.
